Bett Show 2018 London

We took part in Bett Show London at the end of January 2018. This time we were at the Education Finland stand with seven other Finnish edtech companies. Check out the pictures below to see what we got up to!

Finnish education garnered a lot of interest among the visitors.

On our flight to London, we sat next to these young gentlemen. We didn’t know then that they were on their way to hold a speech at the Nordic@BETT seminar. The boys are tutor students at the Aurinkolahti comprehensive school, and they were at the seminar to talk about their work with teachers on how to teach coding. Amazing! The speech had gone well, even though the boys had been quite nervous. They told us that they had taken each possible moment to practice their speech before the actual seminar – such hardworking youngsters! They tried out the Moomin Language School application, and both agreed that they should have had a similar opportunity to learn languages as young children.

The Finnish companies held short pitches twice a day at the Education Finland stand. Here is Eduten during their pitch.

The pitch sessions were packed and many passers-by stopped to listen to the best of the best in Finnish edtech.

Our CEO Anu congratulated Seppo, who came second in the Bett Awards. Here our CEO is with Riku Alkio, the founder of Seppo.

Amidst the hectic days, we were able to take part in a few sessions as well. Here is Ross McGill from TeacherToolkit talking about the international growth of edtech businesses. We agree with McGill: export is great! Especially Finnish education export.

The passers-by were fascinated by our Moomin (pictured here with our head of pedagogy Saga). Some wanted to take a picture with Moomintroll, and he even managed to ease one child’s low spirits by giving her a long and warm hug.

All in all, the trip was a success. We made plenty of new contacts and renewed old ones.

We were accompanied by the following amazing Finnish edtech companies:
