Moomin Language School at Clover Montessori

At Clover Montessori Kindergarten, we’ve been nurturing children for six years across our two branches in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Our vision is to help shape future individuals who live happily, take responsibility for themselves and their communities, think independently when facing life’s challenges, and develop kind and compassionate hearts.

To do this, we constantly refine our values as Montessori guides, study and apply child development deeply through the Montessori philosophy, and embrace personal growth so we can best respect and support each child’s natural gifts.
To support our vision, we have integrated Moomin Language School into our classrooms. Here’s what we’ve learned and experienced so far.

A Unique Tool for Learning English

As educators, we find Moomin Language School to be a truly unique and creative initiative. By weaving the beloved world of the Moomins into language learning, it transforms English learning into an imaginative adventure.

Here’s what we appreciate most:

  • Creative and Playful Approach: The Moomins capture children’s imagination, making learning feel playful.
  • Flipped method: Children practice independently with the application first, then use what they’ve learned with their friends and teacher in class.
  • Personalized Learning: Each child has their own account with interactive exercises and progress tracking.
  • Teacher Support: Weekly ready-made lesson plans, activity guides, and songs make planning easy and engaging.
  • Rich Materials: Flashcards, coloring pictures, sticker cards, and certificates add variety to the learning process.
  • Comprehensive Management: The online system supports both teachers and administrators in tracking progress.

Learning Feels like Play for Children

Our children absolutely enjoy the Moomin Language School application — its bright colors, fun sounds, and interactive games keep them excited and motivated. Whether matching images, finding pairs, or tracing letters, learning feels like play.

We’ve observed growth beyond English skills too:

  • Younger students (3–4 years old) learn to use touchscreens which might be challenging at the beginning due to their still developing fine motor skills. They learn to follow instructions and express their needs more clearly.
  • Older students (4–6 years old) practice making independent choices, managing screen time, and following classroom rules.

Parents Are Pleasantly Surprised

Parents are often surprised by how much vocabulary their children pick up. Many share stories of their child naming everyday objects in English — a joyful confirmation of progress.

Our Final Thoughts

Moomin Language School provides a structured yet playful way for children to learn English. Its combination of play-based learning, personalized progress tracking, and teacher-friendly resources makes it a valuable addition to our curriculum.

For educators considering it, we can say: Moomin Language School makes language learning not only effective but also joyful. With its strong foundation in Finnish education principles, it empowers both students and teachers to grow together.

At Clover Montessori, we are grateful for the chance to combine the Montessori philosophy with innovative tools like Moomin Language School — helping our children learn, explore, and thrive.
