Behind Moomin Language School is a team of passionate, multi-talented and pretty cool people, if we say so ourselves! This time we introduce you to our creative powerhouse, production manager Petra!
Petra joined the team four years ago as a content editor but was quickly taking on more responsibilities in all areas of the production process as well as marketing. Today she is the head of the production department and the go-to person if something needs to be written fast - in English or Finnish!
Petra came to EdTech industry in a roundabout way. She has a BA in Animation from the International Film School of Wales and an MA in Visual Culture from Aalto University. By the time we snatched her up she was working as a freelance translator and animator with a bit of graphic design and illustration on the side. Her keen visual eye, effortless way with words, and willingness to face any challenge thrown her way make her an invaluable part of our team! She is also extraordinarily crafty and is rarely seen around the office without wearing something handknit.
- Hi Petra, can you tell us what your role is in Playvation?
I’m the production manager here at Playvation, which is a fancy way of saying that if it has something to do with the creative content of the Moomin Language School application – story, graphics, game design – I’m the person to talk to. I also do a lot of our copywriting and graphic design!
- What do you like the most in your line of work?
On a personal level I’m one of those “jack of all trades, master of none” types that thrive on variety. I enjoy the fact that my role involves a lot of different creative responsibilities. On a more general level I love that our work has meaning in building the future and isn’t just trying to fill the world up with more junk!
- What do you like to do in your free time?
-
Lots of things! One of my favorite things in the world to do is aerial acrobatics. I also play lots of games (board, video and role playing) and enjoy knitting, sewing, spinning and all kinds of artsy and crafty activities. I also dabble in performing arts.
- Now for something different! If you were a Moomin character, which character would you be, and why?
I think I’d be Muffle, because I’m definitely messy and like to collect buttons!
